Spring Training & Tryouts

Hi Dollard Baseball parents and players,

Unfortunately we got off to a rough start due to the rain and field conditions.  I want to update you on how we will proceed going forward.  The “A” season officially begins on May 15th therefore, we have asked our coaches to have their teams finalized by May 7th.  This gives us two weeks to complete all tryouts.

With that being said, we are going to move ahead with a very busy schedule for the next two weeks.  If your child will be trying out for “A”, expect to be on the field between 8-10 times over the next 14 days.  I realize this may seem like a lot for some of you, but we have no choice if we want to be fair and give the kids a fair shot of making a team.

Some of the sessions will be spring training (open to all), and others will be tryouts for “A” teams.  It is important to attend all sessions.  While SKILL DEVELOPMENT is the primary goal of the spring training sessions, the kids are also being evaluated during these sessions.

The updated schedule will be available tomorrow after I consult with the city.  Please check the website and Facebook page frequently as the schedule will be updated very often as the city opens up more parks.  It is our intention to have as many kids on fields tomorrow night so please don’t be shocked if you find out only tomorrow that your child has a tryout.  I know it’s not ideal but we have to deal with what our reality is.  Let’s hope for some warm sunny weather so we can get through the tryouts and on to the season!
