Want to be an umpire?

If you are interested in being part of our team these are the things to know:

  • Pays you well to officiate the game that you love
  • Allows for flexible hours

Requirements:

  • Be at least 13 years old during the calendar year
  • Have knowledge of the rules of baseball
  • Be willing to attend and complete a mandatory 1 or 2-day training course to obtain accreditation as well to take an on-line course.

If you fit these requirements, feel free to fill out the signup form! We are always looking for new Umpires to enjoy the game from a different point of view.

Equipment:

Once one is an official Umpire, they have to follow specific dress code:

  • Black baseball cap with Baseball Quebec logo (provided)
  • Powder Blue Polo with Baseball Quebec Logo (provided)
  • Dark grey pants (not provided)
  • Black belt (not provided)
  • Black socks (not provided)
  • Black bag for baseballs with broom and indicator (provided)
  • Black shoes, with or without cleats (not provided)

Umpires must also have the following equipment when officiating behind the plate:

  • Mask (provided)
  • Chest protector (provided)
  • Shin pads (provided)
